The men who smuggled 100,000 illegal Turkish immigrants into London over 10 years will be jailed today.(4th October 2006)


The gang considered themselves untouchable and made tens of millions of pounds.


They came up with increasingly devious and dangerous ways of getting people into the country.


Six people at a time were packed into a "coffin" measuring 6ft wide by 1ft deep. It was made of metal to beat X-ray machines and was strapped to the undercarriages of lorries.


Up to 30 immigrants were crammed into metal cages in the backs of lorries and smuggled through small ports. It is not known how many people died on the journeys.
