| European Opinions on Nationalism / Integration Invited In North America, a political crossroads is approaching. "Continentalists" on both sides of the 49th parallel push for ever closer integration of economic, regulatory and defence infrastructures. While these aren't at all new devleopments, their scope and pace of development is unmatched in the history of Canadian-American relations. At the same time, significant political figures on both sides of the border are finding growing levels of support for an abandonment of the integration.
In Canada this tends to manifest itself as "economic sovereignty", while in the USA it more sold as an idea of "American Workers First".
