Truth Rather Than Slander

Hello,

just thought I would start a thread to try and balance things out a little for Mr. Brown, who has been ripped to shreds by the media and opposing players.

Anyway,
we all know that the UK's economy has recently taken quiet a kicking the late,
and many people are worried about their future (revenue) and are blaming Gordon Brown for all that is wrong in the universe.

Now, personally, I am not so sure that everything is Gordon Brown fault.
As for the reasons for the economic slump,
there may be numerous factors that have effected the UK's economy, many, which I see out of Gordon Browns control,
These factors I believe include:

recent wars and changes in ruling powers of eastern block countries
that have resulted in more freedom of movement for the countries inhabitants, which have resulted in a mass exodus for many of their inhabitants to more stable European countries such as the UK, which has put extra strain on the UK economy.

The recent development in Afghanistan relating to the production of Opium and refinement of Opium into Heroin for exportation to the UK.
I believe Mr. Brown went to Afghanistan to try and prevent further Drug production.

This factor of course will have an effect on the UK's economy, as drug sales will be down, so drug profits will also be lowered (as mark up on Heroin is very high, almost as high as the people who use it).

Continued strained relationships with European countries with the Oil producing countries raising the price of Oil products sky high.

Now, although the UK economy has gone COLD TURKEY, i do not believe that all the changes made by Gordon Brown have been negative,
sure, many will only notice the economic aspect to their present circumstances and blame Gordon Brown for their reduced amount of profit.

However, i believe if you look at the big picture, some of the changes that Gordon Brown has made are actually beneficial to society.
The effects of these changes may not be immediately apparent, however, some time to see the positive effects of decisions, one must wait.

Anyway, here are some positive effects that i forecast.

1 > Afghanistan - reduction of the production of Heroin - although reduces profit for those in this business, which has an impact on the economy in some way, in my opinion, the less amount of Heroin on the market, the better. Britain has the highest percentage of drug users per population in the world. I do not believe that this is good for society. Good move Mr. Brown, get rid of that horrible life ruining stuff.

2 > Cracking down on Pedofiles - again - great - does nothing for the economy in the short term, however, make society safer in the long term.

3 > Ban of Knifes > again, spot on. Knife crime being rife, and Britain leading the ranks of the most dangerous countries in the world for violence.
Get rid of knifes. and reduce knife attacks. Spot on.
We really need to get this message across. This type of behavior is not acceptable. Is not "cool" or "hard" but very stupid and damaging, to the victims, to the attackers (in the long term) and the families who are involved. Also, having regular knife attacks in society does nothing for the economy, when was the last time you considered going on holiday to a country known for it's violent crime?

Anyway, there's 3 good choices that Gordon Brown has made.
Please post more.
Please think not only about the economic effect Gordon Brown decisions have had, but the other effects that the choices have had on society, as after all, governing people is not all about economics, but also about caring for the welfare of the people.

Please post more
Please be honest
Thanks
