In the recent hostilities in Georgia, Russia has shown its worth as a regional military power and serious consideration should be given to Russia joining NATO in the near future. After all of the recent issues of poor performance in Iraq by various NATO forces, it will be interesting to see the way in which the Russian forces conduct themselves after this campaign.
