A police sergeant launched an angry attack on his own force yesterday after yobs who threw a stone that smashed his car window were let off without prosecution.

The attack happened as Sergeant Roy Jennings was driving his wife and two young sons.

It left his wife Jane shocked and covered in glass.

The attack happened as the family was driving through the village of Whiteley, near Fareham, Hampshire, last Thursday afternoon.

Sergeant Jennings chased and caught the two attackers, but Hampshire police have decided only to caution one and give the other a final warning.
