I've been reading up on politics lately, but it's been confusing as hell to try and understand what's going on without having a solid foundation of knowledge.
Are there any books or resources that I could read to learn the basics?
Like, who controls what, who elects whom and where do all the parties fit in into this?
Also, how similar are the political systems between countries? If I learn how UK politics works, will I be able to understand the indepth workings of say US or Saudi Arabia, or will I need to start learning from the beginning?
And if I were to take a degree in politics, which one would I be best to choose? (Or are there any short/part time courses, for that matter?)
