A TAMESIDE councillor assaulted his partner – a fellow councillor – when she failed to log out of a computer chatroom as he waited for her, a court was told.
Peter Wright’s political career is in ruins after he pleaded guilty to beating Karen Wright, his partner of 17 years, at their home in Elizabeth Avenue, Audenshaw.
The 56-year-old former Paratrooper snapped during a row over the computer and pulled her across the room by the hair, before holding her against the wall by her throat.
Both are Liberal Democrats representing the Audenshaw ward. Although they never married, Karen had changed her name to Wright and they have two teenage daughters.
