I'm a university student from Lancashire and politically i'm a former Trotskyist turned anarchist. I hope my username isn't offensive to anyone on the Far Right, it's just a play on the title of an Anti-Flag song.

I see no problem with the name.

There is a WORLD of difference between "far right" and "nazi". Something the great European press seem to be unable to grasp.

However. Welcome, and enjoy yourself here.

I mean why are you a 'former' Trotskyist.

People are allowed to change their mind. Surely?

Actually, when I first became interested in politics, I was a centre-rightist, but started to move to the left after a while. I joined RevLeft/Che-Lives, which is another political forum, as a Trotskyist just over three years ago and as I learned about more branches of communism, I moved even more to the left, becoming an Anarchist.

I wondered what had moved him from Trotskyist to anarchist.

I'm a university student in Bath, vote conservative. If I had to put myself into a category I guess I am fairly centrist.

Why do you consider anarchy is left? I would have said the most extreme political right wing is anarchy. I've always considered the left-wing to be the one that wants controlling government and the right-wing to have little government.
That's what is so interesting about politics, the diverse way we view the same things. As a much wiser man than I once said, 'politics, it's a funny old game '.

Now heres another strange thing. I always wonder when people say;
I've always considered the left-wing to be the one that wants controlling government and the right-wing to have little government.
Then I think of the hundreds of memorial stones out side the Reichstag, to commemerate those politicians that disagreed with Hitler and were sent to the Concentration camps, I think of the Gestapo, and I think of the thousands that were shot on the spot for saying any thing against Hitler from around 1944 onwards.

THEN I wonder WHY, people say what "Tell Me More" said.

Surely by now everyone has realised that politics is not an axis so much as a circle.

If you travel too far in any direction you'll find yourself meeting your opposite.

Centrist for the win!

Are you (seriously) telling me that the National Socialist Party were right-wing? They had every hallmark of the left-wing. Total control lying with the state, citizens' (or subjects if you'd prefer) thoughts and actions controlled rigidly, people encouraged to turn in their neighbours. sounds pretty left-wing to me.

Racial superiority, nationally controlled interests, free market economy... sounds pretty right wing to me.

So what were Franco and Moussolinni then? Rabid Communists? Because they did EXACTLY the same as Hitler, in respect to supression of their own people.

it's long, but interesting, and it explains why I called the Nazis left-wing.
(And Mussolini definitely left-wing)

I am also a student... I am working on my Doctorate here in southeast Florida. I consider myself more liberal than conservative, but really, liberal/conservative in the US is all mostly just left or right of the middle. Mostly. I am not a fan of extremism in any form, even if it agrees with my views. I usually vote Democrat, tho more options would be nice.

Hello Zoobee. I have allready read some of your posts.

I like your style. We WILL probably find ourselves arguing on occassion, but is that not what the place is for? :D

But I do not mind a good argument with some one who has thought out well what they are saying. You appear to be that sort of person.

Welcome.

It is a problem I have heard of on other web sites.

It is to stop you having fun whe you are meant to be slaving.

Whats the difference between a lawyer and a politician?

When a lawyer talks to the FBI, it is investigating a case. When a politician talks to the FBI, it is "helping with enquirys". :D

Um...that's my twin. However I'm not interested in the medical field. I want to open a brothel in Amsterdam. I have an opinion about everything so my sister said that this was the place for me.:)

von-Scharnhorst
19-10-2006, 01:26 PM
Well, it's not a joke in it's self, and it really requires a very cynical out look. But if any one ever sais "He's got a good job", the reply, as quick as you can and as cynically as possible is "Aye? what as, a piano player in a whore house?"

The same as "Seamstress" is a nod and wink "joke". Because when asked what job they did, to keep themselves "respectable", a prostitute would allways say "seamstress".
