Chicken's Head found in fast food order
11/30/2000
WVEC.com

This fried chicken's head was discovered in an order of chicken wings.
A customer at a McDonald's restaurant in Newport News got more than she bargained for when she received her order. Katherine Ortega said she found a fried chicken's head in the box of chicken wings she ordered Tuesday night.

She made the discovery at the McDonald's in the 15000 block of Warwick Boulevard.

Ortega said someone who wasn't looking closely could have easily mistaken the chicken's head for another piece of chicken, like the leg or a wing. The chicken's beak, the comb on top of its head and some feathers were visible.

Ortega said she wants to know how the chicken's head could have made it past inspectors and into the hands of a customer. "I usually look at my food, but I shouldn't have to look that closely to see that. My 5-year-old probably wouldn't have looked. He probably would have thought it was a chicken leg and eaten it," Ortega said.

The manager at McDonald's offered Ortega another order of chicken and offered to return the chicken's head to the distribution company. Ortega declined.

The health department sent an inspector to the restaurant to look through the rest of the bag of chicken wings. Officials didn't find anything unusual. The incident was reported to the Department of Agriculture.

The McDonald's Corporation said it would look into the alleged incident, stating that food safety is its top priority.

I'm supposed to hate McDonald's. But I can't resist the french fries! There must be something in them. I swear!

This is just fucking pathetic.

It's food, you retards. If you don't like it, don't eat it. No one is putting a gun to your head saying you must eat fast food. Jesus christ. I realise the average american has all the self control of a 10 tonne boulder rolling down a hill, but come on.

I personally like a McDonalds now and then, it's a treat for me because I don't really think to eat it every time I pass by one, get a grip on yourselves. I haven't had one in over a couple months but I sure as hell am gonna have 2 tomorrow just for you, Solve. I am even gonna tell them not to put my penny change in the charity pot but keep it in their tills.

Then you don't need a ridiculous boycott, do you?

I am sure that the only people boycotting it are the ones that don't eat it. So I am sure that will make for a truly effective boycott.

claire

who's boycotting here???

zoobee2
22-10-2006, 04:50 PM

I have NEVER in my entire life even stepped into;

Mc Dogs
Unlucky fried kitten
Dunkans donuts
Wimpey
Wendys
Subway
Or ANY other U.S "fast food" outlet.

I prefer my beef raw, and my pig raw or roasted.

well you should at least try it so that you know what you are not supporting.

Unlucky Fried Kitten.lol. I'm not boycotting, I just don't want to get fat and die of a heart attack. And I have a horrible family health history, pretty much everyone in my family (besides cousins and siblings) is overweight or has heart problems. Except for my one aunt, who has anorexia.

anorexia is a health problem. and a nutritional disorder. i think she qualifies.

It is not a case of "not suporting", I just feel ill at the smell of hot 3 month old cooking fat and unwashed kitchen, when I go past.

Wimpy's is the particularly unsuccessful British attempt at fried food.

Ahh. O.K, I just, more or less naturally, thought it was U.S. Same applies any way. :D

Either that or it is the new Government motto;

We Import More Poles Yearly.

Mc Donalds changes the grease they use every other day. that's pretty gross.

In the deep fat fryer I own, I have never changed the grease. Not once. In five or more years. Keeps the deliciousness in.

Also, a germ that survives 200 degrees centigrade is not going to be stopped by washing something out.

You own a deep fryer??? That's pretty awesome.

Hahaha..way to sidestep his quip.

I just don't want to get fat and die of a heart attack.

I'm sure you figured this one out already, but: Don't eat McDonalds.

I love cheap burgers that I can stuff my face with and fries and a shake. I just don't eat it every day and I work it out if I do.

Why? You can buy them in any electronic retailers here.

Germs are not the problem. When fat is reheated, the molecular structure changes, and can produce things like PCB's, and all kinds of other wierd and wonderful carcinogens.

I'm not sure if this is a hijack.....

wendy's frosties are better

Actually... I like wendys a lot better than McDonalds. I typically get the triple burger with bacon, biggie fries, and use the frostie to dip my fries.

claire

I know you can buy them, but I've never met one that owns one before.

I love my deep fat fryer, plus, if you worry too hard about carcinogens you should really just avoid pretty much everything up to and including mineral water.
