While many have the impression that post-Hiroshima/Nagasaki Japan is nuclear-phobic, the fact is, Japan has prepared a nuclear arsenal -- with China as its only possible target -- that is one final step from assembly… a task that could be accomplished in mere weeks

I am not really surprised. Most of the allies of the U.S, if not all....No Iceland, I THINK, is the exception, have nuclear power, and have had for many years. Because of "trusted client" status, they are not watched by the worlds nuclear "watch dogs".

Even without direct U.S help, every one of those countrys has the technological know how.

The cowboy mind of the present U.S Goverment probably LOVES that scene in Westerns when the bad guy pulls a gun on the hero, only to find that all the surounding nuns, cripples and pensioners pull out a selection of armoury, any one of which would give an elephant cause for concern.

I think that is exactly what is happening in the world today. The setting up of that scene on an international basis.
