Muslim women wearing hijab, or headscarves, should be employed in front-line roles in the media, said a report published yesterday by Ruth Kelly, the minister for women and equality.

Here we go again. The government appeassing the muslim community instead of tackling the problem head on. When are they going to learn?

Would you be against seeing a Jewish people with a star of david necklace? A Sikh with a turban? A Christian with a cross?

Or is it just because they are Muslim?

Muslim, British women are part of our society, and if we can encourage a few to take up a few positions in the national media, that isn't a bad thing, as it normalises them, especially if they are wearing hijabs etc.

anyone can wear what they like and if they're the best for the job, give it to them.

however i'm against positive discrimination as it is the problem which makes it necessary which is what should be tackled - two wrong's don't make a right.

Muslim, British women are part of our society, .

Its a pity that the majority do not see themselves as part of mainstream society though. Do you honestly think they have assimilated into British society. How many times do you hear a supposedly British 'muslim' women tell you they are a pakistani Brit or a muslim Brit. Its appalling.

I agree Nicholas. No such thing as a British 'Muslim' or a British 'Pakistani'. A cat born in a kennel is not a dog.

No, actually, I wouldn't.

All faiths from Allah to the tooth fairy are equally loopy to me, I have no problem with people believing whatever they want as long as they apply to two fairly simple requirements - 1. They leave me out of it. 2. They leave everyone else out of it.

Can't disagree with that.
