Copenhagen, 6 Oct. (AKI) - Denmark's main commercial television station Tv2 has just broadcast a video showing a contest on the best caricature of the Prophet Mohammed organised by the youth group of the right-wing Danish People's Party (PDD). The video shows the young activists as they ridicule Islam's Prophet dressed up as, among other things, a beer-drinking camel and a suicide bomber. The event, organised on 5 August, was filmed by militants with the nationalist, anti-immigrant party, which is the third-largest in the country.
Some Danish dailies have protested against the broadcasting of the video - saying it risks sparking the same type of offense and violent reaction provoked by cartoons satirising Mohammed first published by Danish daily Jyllands Posten on 30 September last year.
The cartoons, later reprinted by various European newspapers, sparked protests worldwide in which least 50 people died.
