View Full Version : Anger as failed asylum seeker stays despite three jail terms

THE immigration system has been slammed by an outraged councillor for allowing a convicted criminal to remain in the country at the taxpayer's expense, despite being jailed three times.
A clampdown is being planned by the Home Office, which should come into effect during the spring of next year to prevent similar cases happening in future.
Mohammed Johar, 26, was locked up for the third time on Wednesday for persistently ignoring a court order preventing him from harassing Joanne Reynolds, a receptionist at the Waterfront Lodge Hotel, Huddersfield Road, Brighouse.

He entered the UK on December 15, 2000 as an Iraqi asylum seeker but has since had his application and appeal dismissed.
His previous two sentences amounted to 20 months – although he only served nine. He has now been sentenced to a further two years.
Coun Joyce Cawthra (Con, Brighouse) said it was outrageous that he had been allowed to remain in the country.
She said: "Given this is the third time he has broken the laws of this land and he is here illegally, he appears to be a prime candidate for deportation

WHAT? Spring next year? There is no bloody reason on this earth why this can not be brought in YESTERDAY.

Are the Government hoping we will have forgotten the promise by spring? So they can just sweep it under the carpet, and yet again, end up doing NOTHING?
