Was the No Child Left Behind Act was created to improve the education or to appease angry tax payers? The act gives more money to schools that score higher on state tests and cuts back on schools that don’t score well on state tests. I’m no rocket scientist, (actually I’m pretty dumb) but that doesn’t make much sense, shouldn’t the schools that don’t score well get the funding. In the end the government has been giving less money to schools.

Plus, just so you all know, mentally handicapped students have to take these tests at their grade level. This also counts for school funding.

its crazy. it is a political move to give the false appearance that the current administration cares about children.

what it does is force schools to spend all their time preparing for a test rather than teaching their students in different methods of instruction. it forces the memorization of facts without focus on individual, creative, and higher skilled thinking.

for students with disabilities, it frustrates them by pushing learning to a level that they cannot attain, making them angry with themselves and school. students with Individualized Educational Plans are able to learn at their level, but then are forced to take a test at a level way above them, even tho the scores do not count against them. it is completely pointless and only serves to frustrate and dishearten them.

I know it sucks, We have a class on taking the test. They call it "freshman seminar" but it doesn't really teach us anything but how to take the tests.
