| Terrorist identity refused The war on terror has descended into farce after the Government refused to identify a July 7 suspect on the run from the security services. The Home Office insists the British Muslim, who describes himself as a 'Holy warrior', is such a grave threat to national security he must be under a control order. But, despite the 25-year-old committing a serious crime by repeatedly breaching the order and making himself a fugitive, John Reid will not take steps to lift his veil of secrecy, thus preventing the public from informing on this lowlife if he is seen.
The Home Secretary's refusal to act is in spite of fears the man is a possible 'missing link' to the London plot. Investigators have linked him to two of the four bombers who claimed 52 innocent lives last year, Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer. Ministers were told the fanatic also spent seven months in detention in Pakistan and is feared to have links to al Qaeda.
The stubborn refusal denies the police and security services the chance to benefit from a sighting by the public, who may have seen the London-born extremist since he escaped through the window of a mental hospital two weeks ago. A second on-the-run control order suspect, a dangerous Iraqi who vanished as long ago as August, is also protected by an anonymity order.
The truth was only dragged from the Home Office after one of the on-the-run suspects' families contacted the BBC because they were worried for their safety. Now it has emerged Ministers deliberately left details of the earliest escape, in August, from a statement made to MPs on September 11.
Quote: "Norman Brennan, director of the Victims of Crime Trust and a serving police officer, said: 'Terrorists pose the gravest danger to the protection of the public and everything possible must be done to apprehend these people at the earliest possible opportunity. 'So what is the more important? The protection of law abiding Britons from terrorism, or the protection of these two suspects' 'rights'? I know the answer and I am sure the public does, as well. The shame is that the Government does not."
The Daily Mail knows his identity, his shocking links to terrorists and has a photograph, but is unable to publish.
What the hell does this government think it is doing, playing around with our safety in this way. We must demand the names of all lowlifes who threaten our nation, our peoples, our kids! |
