TONY Blair yesterday admitted political correctness has hampered the fight against violent black gangs and called for a change in crime policy.
He urged police to enforce an “intensive” crackdown on teenage killers wreaking “severe disorder” with guns and knives on the streets.

“We won’t stop this by pretending it isn’t young black kids doing it,” he said, conceding that he has *undergone a change of heart over multi-cultural policing.

But the sudden switch, in his final weeks at Number 10, provoked exasperation among victims’ groups and MPs.

Critics blamed his Government for rendering police “ineffective” through needless diversity training and bureaucracy, and were unconvinced by his apparent about-turn.

Mr Blair’s remarks came during a lecture in Cardiff about the future of Britain’s cities.

It followed a spate of killings of young black teenagers, including 14-year-old Paul Erhahon, who was stabbed to death in east London on Friday. Last month Adam Regis, 15, was knifed to death in Plaistow, east London, and Kodjo Yenga, 16, was stabbed to death in Hammersmith, west London.

Would it be cynical to suggest the only reason "Oooohhh PLEASE do that to me again George" Blair is saying this now, is because they are terrified by the rise in candidates standing for the BNP?


Doing the same to them as he did to the Tories, ie, stealing all their ideas, so the carpet is pulled from under them.


Will it work? Or is it too little too late?
