| Pound hits new 26-year high against dollar The pound has reached a 26-year high breaking the $2 barrier by six cents. It will put an extra spring in the step for those who have already planned to take a summer break in the States, adding a boost to their spending power. And it might be enough to lift the spirits of those who have put off booking a transatlantic break because of the thought of airport queues and terrorist alerts. But it will be depressing for businesses exporting to the U.S. as well as those competing with American firms for business in other countries............
