US Anti-War Sentiment....

Are we seeing a reoccurance of the 'Vietnam Sydrome' in the States..... Is there a ground swell of anti-war sentiment over the Iraq debacle in the same way there was in the 1970s over the Vietnam War?

Bush has denied that the US should pull out of Iraq ever...that we have to see the ....'Job Finished'. But is that possible from a domestic politcal point of view and a military one. The US Military, like the UK Military just does not have the manpower levels to sustain long term garrisons in Iraq due to the wear and tear on Soldiers. Some military pundits in the States are advocating some form of selective conscription to bolster those manpower issues.

But would this be a polical acceptable considering 2008 will be a Presidential election year, and GW Bush will soon be 'history'. It would be interesting if anyone in the States has any comments about this, considering the report by General Piraeus on the whole issue of Iraq will soon be published.
