I wonder what he's trying to sell or publicise? No doubt he's good for the women soldiers' morale but I bet Posh doesn't like the photographs of him with his arm around good looking women in uniform!
The richest man is not he who has the most but he who needs the least.
I thought this initially, but then it doesn't fit.
What does fit is that Beckham is a huge role model to young men, and is aware of that. So to visit and appreciate those young men who grew up with him as a role model is a massive boost to those troops. He is known to support charities and donate his time and effort and this is just another example...and far more welcome than a crusty politician who is definately looking for the publicity.
I'm hoping Dianne Abbott visits as part of her leadership bid and goes on patrol one way only, but thats just personal animosity

I think that Beckham's visit tot the troops was an excellent gesture.
The troops are just ordinary men and women, with the same likes and dislikes as anyone else, and a visit from someone of his profile would have been thoroughly enjoyed by all who came in contact with him.
For the cynics there is nothing that Beckham could gain or sell from this visit, other than a new found respect.
Good on him.
