A white witness who gave vital evidence in the Kriss Donald murder trial has been stabbed by a non-white attacker as he sat in a car at traffic lights.

Barry O’Neill was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary following the attack in Springburn, in the north of the city. He was in a vehicle which had stopped at a traffic light when a blue Ford Focus pulled up behind him on Friday.

A man described as an “Asian” got out of the Focus and opened Barry’s door before knifing him. Medics treated the 21-year-old at the scene before he was rushed to accident and emergency. His condition is now described as stable.

According to news reports, gangland insiders said: “There is no doubt this is connected to the murder of Kriss. Racial tensions have reached boiling point recently and it will probably only get worse.”

The 2004 murder of Kriss, 15, shocked the whole of Scotland, although it was largely ignored by the main media (how different it would have been had the perpetrators been White).

Kriss was abducted near his home in Pollokshields, on Glasgow’s south side, stabbed 13 times, set on fire and left to die - all because someone had thrown a bottle at Imran Shahid. A gang led by Shahid decided they wanted revenge on a white youth - any white youth - and Kriss was unfortunately enough to be chosen at random as their victim.

Shahid, his brother Zeeshan, and Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq were later given life sentences for the murder.
