![]() Essential reading for Britons - Freedom THE March issue of Freedom is out this week with a front page reminding voters that one of the British National Party's main priorities is to get Britain out of the European Union. "British nationalists were the original anti-Common Market campaigners and were at the forefront of the 'No Vote' lobby against Britain staying within a European superstate in the 1975 referendum," recalls Freedom Editor Martin Wingfield. "I have been editing nationalist publications for nearly thirty years now and their hasn't been a single edition of the paper where it wasn't stressed that if Britain wanted to be in charge of her own destiny, the country must break free from any restrictive ties with Brussels." Safety valve In recent years the media-puffed UK Independence Party has put itself forward as the champion of voters who wanted to see Britain free from Europe, but this one-trick pony has now been exposed as just an establishment safety value, and if recent press revelations are to be believed, a rather corrupt one at that. "Freedom's mailbag is overflowing with correspondence from disillusioned UKIP members," says Martin, "It has been rather disappointing that many of those people writing in were unaware that the BNP and its forerunners were the original campaigners against the EU. Hopefully Freedom's latest front page and some of the stories covered inside will help reassure them." Freedom's print run rose for the fourth month running, and the newspaper, with the help of its website, is being read in more British households than at any time in its history.
