Corsham's most famous resident used to be Camilla Parker Bowles. Now the headlines are being made by a local taxi driver, who has become the West's first British National Party councillor. One striking thing about meeting Michael Simpkins is that he does not fit the stereotype for a political foot soldier of the far right. "I joined the BNP three years ago," he told me - "on a break between taxi shifts in Corsham. "I had a real problem with my son being taught about Islam at school. "We are very Christian and I didn't like the fact he was being taught things that I know aren't true."
