Exclamation Anti-BNP campaigns . . .Election watchdog targets trade union money!

From this months issue of 'Freedom' (BNP Newspaper):

THE Electoral Commission (EC) says it is well aware of the British National Party's concerns over the interference and undeclared spending of anti-BNP third parties in election campaigns and is monitoring such groups more closely than in previous years.
Last month the British National Party informed the Commission of £80,000 of trade union donations to a group called Love Music Hate Racism (LMHR) which is organising against the BNP in the run up to the London Assembly and Mayoral elections in the capital on May 1st.

"The Unite trade union has donated £50,000 and the PCS civil service workers' union has given £30,000," a spokesman from the British National Party's Election Department told Freedom.

"We understand that the donations were made in response to a £200,000 appeal and that other trade unions are being asked to fund this campaign."

LMHR makes no secret of the fact that the money is being specifically raised to organise against BNP candidates standing for election to the London Assembly.

It comes as no surprise that the Unite trade union is using its members' money for such an anti-democratic campaign. Its boss is hardline Communist Derek Simpson, who only joined the Labour Party when it came to power so he could wield more influence.

BNP Chairman Nick Griffin, says that he is satisfied that the expenditure of all the anti-BNP groups trying to interfere in this year's elections will now have to be accounted for.

"In the past the Electoral Commission has tended to turn a blind eye to the huge sums of money spent on campaigning against the BNP but which never appeared on any election expense return," he said.

"We have had numerous meetings with the Commission over this and I now believe that they are finally realising just how much money is 'going missing'."

At the end of last year, a returning officer in Shepshed warned a Liberal Democrat campaigner over putting out third party anti-BNP leaflets and the EC also ensured that the cost of these leaflets appeared on the election expenses of the Lib-Dem candidate.

Lib-Dem now faces police probe over 'Searchlies' leaflets

LAST month Freedom reported that Michael Wyatt, the Liberal Democrat leader on North West Leicestershire Council had been reprimanded by Returning Officer Margaret Taylor, for delivering third party anti-BNP leaflets during the Ibstock election.
Wyatt was caught red-handed and photographed going about his illicit business which is in clear breach of election law. He told Mrs Taylor that he and other members of his political group would not circulate any more of the leaflets in question.

But just days later Wyatt was caught again delivering the same 'Searchlies' leaflets. This time he was reported to the Police and an enquiry is now under way.
