    BNP gain two seats

Cant wait for all the hate, bile and pure fabricated stories after this win. This a real shot in the arm for all activists who canvassed and leafletted like me. With European funding and a team of researchers paid for by the EU , the only way is UP! Victory speech in Manchester:

YouTube - BNP leader Nick Griffin says his party has claimed a "great victory"!!! WHO AGREES???
The BNP's own vote was actually down in numerical terms on the 2004 election and it only gained these seats because of the slump in the Labour vote, giving it a marginal increase (1.3%) of the total votes cast. More a 'victory' by default if anything else, certainly not one because more people thought it a party worth voting for.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised 'for the good of its victims' may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us 'for our own good' will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis

Even if this in true, they still got over 915,000 votes.

The low turnout affected all parties. If it affected Labour, the conservatives and the Lib Dems , its surely gong to affect the BNP as well. Its was a record low turnout this euro election in britain. This election discounting Northern Ierland and Scotland:

    British National Party 916,424 Votes 6.5 % ( +1.4) 2 MEP +2

    A good showing all round.
    Vote BNP

I actually agree with you. This will be a big shot in the arm for fascism.

So come on anti fascists, what are you going to do?

All it takes for fascism to succeed, is for good people to remain silent.

It may be true, but the point is that 915,000 people voted for the BNP, What does that say to the main parties?

It says that for all the recent drive for respectability, less people voted for them this time round than 5 years ago. It tells the main parties that if they should be scared of any of the smaller outfits its the Greens!

I believe that it's a good thing that two BNP people are being sent as MEPs. With luck it will shock the bulk of the electorate from their current state of apathy. Come the general election I think that the BNP will be dead in the water.

Wonder why, Bradford is 95% Asian & Black run, why do you think its down in votes!"!! Go figure.

Mr Griffin even mentioned on his interview last night by the BBC that Bradford and North Yorkshire is being colonised by Muslims.

The people of this country, and particularly in Yorkshire and Lancashire, are sick to the back teeth of seeing Labour’s disastrous open door immigration policy allowing every piece of riff raff, flotsam and jetsam, waif and stray, and foreign criminal to flood unhindered into this country from every corner of the globe.

Many immigrants are hard working and are of value to this country and they are welcome, but many are scroungers and criminals and they are not welcome.

We are fed up of the hundreds of thousands of scroungers, shirkers, illegal immigrants, bogus asylum seekers, fake students and criminal gangs who are pouring in to milk the very life blood out of this once proud country.

The most worrying aspect of this disastrous situation is that our useless, incompetent government has no idea how many illegals, criminals and potential terrorists have gained entry to our shores or even where they might be hiding.

This situation is criminal incompetence on a massive scale, is totally unsustainable and someone has got to put a stop to it, before it destroys this country for ever.

That’s why hundreds of thousands voted BNP on Thursday night.

As I've said before, this election was Labour's to lose - and they did with aplomb.

    not according to Griffin.
Rank and File members of the NF were not too pleased when Griffin, in 1985, praised the black separatist Louis Farrakhan: “White nationalists everywhere wish (Farrakhan) well, for we share a common struggle for the same ends: Racial Separation and Racial Freedom”.
Griffin may have swapped allies and foes, but aims remain the same, "Racial Separation and Racial Freedom”.

    Quite the scaremungering here!!

Many descendent's of people who have spilt more blood for this nation than whites ever have!

That's why they are illegal. It would be impossible to know how many illegal immigrants there were - hence they are illegal

This sort of rubbish is why fewer people voted BNP in the North and why the BNP was beaten by at least two other minor parties in the UK making them one of the smallest parties in the Uk below the Greens, UKIP and the SNP (in scotland) and Plaid Cymru (in wales)

It is a great achievement considering the amount of bull crap that was written about them leading up to the elections.

As someone pointed out before, everyone’s vote was down in numbers.
