Ed West reporting on old Labour v New Labour.

Of course modern “Old Labour” types like Jon Cruddas do not support many (or indeed any) of those things, but there is still a residual social conservatism, especially among Old Labour voters. Apart from the bit about homosexuality and perhaps a couple of other issues, many people could live with that aforementioned Attleeite society (and certainly having a child, after which about 95 per cent of the benefits of the Sexual Revolution are lost to you, changes one’s perspective). No wonder a certain party fighting Cruddas in Dagenham has cleverly rebranded itself as “the Labour Party your granddad voted for”.
