Seeing what I do today I am surprised the human race still exists. Explosions from suicide bombers are trying to deform humanity as well as their selves. We see them at work in America, September 11th 2001, London July 7th, and other places including Israel, Iraq, Bali and Afghanistan. Humanity has come a long way, yet in some ways we are going backwards. No one trusts any other person, and crime rising by the day you can hardly wonder why. The police are regarded with apathy, as they seem more interested with catching motorists. Or so it is perceived from the media viewpoint.
One picture that recently shocked me, was of a young woman covered in blood lying on the road with vehicles and people going around her. Some even trying to avoid looking at her, hoping it was an illusion. I am afraid even I would have done the same as the others, treating her with suspicion. Why? Lack of trust. Did she have accomplices lying in wait to turn the tables on us? It is a sad indictment of the world we live in. Yet it is a truth no one speaks out about, and it does not stop there. The government, no matter which party is in control, do not help. More so since they are helping their selves to our money. Even if they passed some legislation, all that it would mean that the police would have more paperwork. Everything they do or what we do has to be accounted for, there is no freedom in our society.
One reason we have no freedom is that there is always somebody trying to get into our space, we are becoming overcrowded. For goodness sake we live on an island with diminishing coastlines. Something will soon give way if nothing is done. Already the process of overcrowding is happening, not necessarily with people themselves. It is their mobile phones and personal hi-fis already eroding our personal space. How many times I have gone to church, the cinema, theatre or a concert and had a mobile phone ring, even after many advertisments telling people to turn them off.
Whatever people do in this day and age, is allowed to continue. Suicide bombers, murderers, rapists, paedophiles, drug or gun salesmen; or any other criminal including unnecessary mobile phone users. All these people have something in common, they can use two words that can bring more terror than anything else: HUMAN RIGHTS. With those words you can do anything you want including murder. Are you scared; I am, and so should you be? No I am not a scaremonger, nor am I writing gobbledygook. What I am writing is a TRUTH that should be recognised as such. Until the TRUTH is recognised, young women or men will remain lying in the road, being avoided at all costs. Until then I or anyone else will not trust each other. And that is only one little thing, with illegals getting in with money the overcrowding will not stop until....
At a time when we're having to take such difficult decisions about how to cut back without damaging the things that matter the most, we should strain every sinew to cut error, waste and fraud.
You will feel the full force of the law and if you are old enough to commit these crimes you are old enough to face the punishments. And to these people I would say this: you are not only wrecking the lives of others, you are potentially wrecking your own life too.

A good post, Ian. And as far as my knowledge and experience goes, it is totally true.
I like how you point out that we are only an island with deminishing coastlines.
This is why I vote as I do. Out of common sense. The box is FULL UP
