I think that sums up how the country feels....well done.
This is a discussion on Am I allowed to call the main political parties a bunch of xxxxx within the Coffee Room forums, part of the The House of Commons category; 2010 election year and I am feeling very depressed that all 3 of the ENGLISH parties have the same policies. ...
2010 election year and I am feeling very depressed that all 3 of the ENGLISH parties have the same policies.
To be fair both the SNP and Plaid also have very similar policies other than a varied view on realistic independence/federal status within a strengthened euro state.
I love the country I live in. It is brill (concession to the yuff). I love the way it is defined by it's ability to house and absorb other cultures, it's liberal free market economy, it's hotbed radical socialist idealism, it's conservative dependancy on the stability of a monarchy.
But I am getting very disillusioned by our bland politicians who feel unable to propose any policies of merit. That reflect their beliefs.
FFS - Labour, Unite should be supporting members who are feel railroaded into settlements. Torys, you stand for the individuals right to better improvement. So what if Ashcroft is sticking 2 fingers to the proles, you support everyones right to do so. Grow some balls. Liberals, stop selling your policies for popularism do what you think is right. It's what radicals respected you for.
Governance should not be about power. It's about leadership. Direction. Belief.
I will vote. Probably not for you. But I'd feel a lot better if I at least believed the government that won had belief in an ideal.
One voice ine the wilderness. But I feel better that I've said it.

We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender. They will not Force us, they will stop degrading us, they will not control us, we will be victorious
Politicians get very little remuneration, as such there are few proper politicians. Those people are making a killing in private enterprise, so the people who become politicians do it to boost their ego, or because they are too useless to do anything else. Being an MP is a job that requires no qualifications, or skills. All you need to be a politician is popularity. Popularity isn't hard, just make lots of stupid promises and you get votes.
Why can't Jesus eat M&Ms?
Because they keep falling through the holes in his hands!
Jesus may love you, but he won't respect you in the morning.
Politicians can promise everybody a million pounds before an election just to get votes, however after they get in they can demand millions from us.
Hi,
tadgc starts out with an excellent summary of politics today but fails to apportion blame - at the core is public apathy based on a wall to wall supply of the irrelevant soaps, populism, celebrities who are celebrities for being celebrities, low financial & recognition reward for actions of value, dispirited at seeing real leaders and brave men remunerated at 10% of the income of some illiterate idiot who can kick a ball or strum a tune or has big boobs.
What has Kate Price done that is of value beyond the skills of any prostitute? Can she write, sing, enteretain, invent, heal, cure, no she can sell sex and needs silicone even to achieve that!
Then we have the fiction & friction of sport - do you REALLY care who can run 1/100th. of a second faster on a given day - do you REALLY have an interest in the Olympics? It is an obscene and costly bore - just think if there was any truth in anthopogenic global warming just how big the Olympocs Carbon Feet are in the manufacture of Cement and its shippong alone! Then look at the huge waste of air miles.
Then consider almost all politicians are part of the cosy status quo of LibLabEUkipCon. all on the party band wagon whipped to toe their party line which means immediately and by deffinition they vote for Party NOT principle or the people.
It is the spent and failed Party concept in politics that has irrefutably put us in this dire position where everyone believes there is no point and none of them have the ability to solve it - despite the fact that if they reach the top they can expect to walk away to £10>20 Million a year - even an MEP can expect to trouser over £1 Million over their salary & legitimate expenses in their term of office and walk away with around £1/4 million in their pension fund!
When was a CEO of a Council A PUBLIC SERVICE worth £150,000+ pa. when does a Council Officer justify a £1/4 Million payolla to go and set up his department in another office with some mates as his own business set up on a grant!
It is not what politicians EARN it is all about what they are PAOD yet fail to earn!
The Party Political system is a busted flush.
Vote Local, for Local Issues and Locally known people, who will fight on principles for Local issues and decentralisation of Government, less laws, referenda, and with a willingness to be subject to a 'RECALL VOTE'.
Scrap the self serving Party scam designed for the wealth of a few at the troughs on the gravy train - vote for an INDEPENDENT Patriot who values the fiture beyond campaigning to get back in again.
Reaclaim OUR Future and Leave-the-EU it is utterly out of control and totally unaccountable without even a pretence of democracy.

Greg L-W.
