Anyone Else Uneasy About Pakistani Cricket Games?

I have thus far resisted the urge to make comment about the revalations in all the media concerning alleged 'fixing' of situations by Pakistani players.

There has been some muttering by ex-England players, particularly Michael Vaughan.

Am I being unreasonable in echoing his view that the players concerned should be suspended from participation in further tests until the allegations are confirmed or dismissed?

THe alternative might be that if they do play and it turns out that they were guilty that the final result would be that they lost the game played after that decision was made?

I can't say I'm a particular cricket fan, but I think you're quite right in what you say - which should apply to any sport, not just cricket. Most sports seem to have suffered from this sort of problem at some time or other, and it seems that the only way to prevent it happening, or at least to make it not worthwhile for anyone to try to do, is to have very clear and unambiguous rules; if you're caught you're permanently suspended unless your innocence can be proved, and your team loses the particular match concerned and has to accept whatever subsequent implications that might have for a series, period.

What did anyone expect ? It was Pakistan after all. Pakistan have always cheated. They have been involved in many contriversal and iffy matches in the past. Even when they do try to win instead of throwing the game they get caught tampering win the ball.
Pakistans polititions are just as bad corruption is the name of the game, even their prime minister has been at it, creaming off the top of government contracts. Pakistan the country that helped Iran go nuclear.Pakistan the country that hides the Taliban, Pakistan the country whos class system sees the rich partying behind high walls while there poor countrymen drown in the flood.
Pakistani shop keepers in the UK that have "Flood disarster fund" boxes next to there till and smile at you as they short change you.
No, Pakistanis are a nation of takers*,they give nothing to the World but a headache.
I am not at all suprised at the latest sporting transgression ,Its just not cricket.

Today the accused Pakistani players have flown home, with the Pakistani spokesman proclaiming their innocence. I am not surprised at that as they have not been charged, and at least it is promised that they will return if demanded by Scotland Yard.

Has this been dealt with in the best interest of justice, or even the best interest of sport generally?

No they should have all been sent home when the story broke .It remains to be seen what the sporting penalties will be .

A forthright response. It didn't happen, so are we alone in our views?

The whole team should of been sent home. They have brought not only themselves but the entire game of cricket into disrepute
