A & E Doctor Suspended Since Harlequin Rugby Club 'cut lip' not to be struck off

BBC News has just announced that the doctor (Dr Wendy Chapman) involved in this dubious affair can return to work the BMA has decided.

While obviously she is very lucky there was considerable pressure placed upon her by the rugby team's management, in particular their director of rugby.

As someone so delightfully put it on a 5 Live discussion a few weeks ago - how can we justify not utilising this talented lady's talents in future for the benefit of all of us, when solicitors and barristers daily draw out salient defence 'facts' on their client's actions to the court despite sometimes knowing that their own client is clearly guilty!

I don't think it would be fair to strike her off (provided that the board were satisfied that she will be honest in future) but can they ban her from sports?

I have a feeling she will have nothing to do with 'sports' after this!

As the Pakistani cricket investigation is showing, big money talks in sport these days, and I guess she will prefer to be well clear of that!

I wish her a peaceful life if that is possible while doctoring at an A & E department!
