Is David Cameron trying too hard by getting rid of his security?

Is he really just being "one of the guys" or is this a ploy to make us think he is? Davis Cameron has not only got rid of his police outriders but he was spotted walking to the Commons with a crowd of ordinary workers, looking just like any other businessman.

Personally I think it's insane. Were I a terrorist, I'd be on him, as my Grandmother was fond of saying, "like a duck on a "june bug". But what do I know, he'll probably die of old age.
I wonder why the things that should be so simple, so natural... like loving someone and letting them see into your heart... should require so much courage?

Just a different perception between the UK and the US on who or what might pose a threat to our respective politicians I suspect, brought about by the differences in our societies more than anything. What he's perhaps trying to do is to say "look, I'm simply another person going to work; I might be PM but it's just a job and I don't need all the trappings that often go with it".

That may well be Midas, but it's still foolish. The man is now a world leader and should understand, as should you, that crazies and terrorists have no respect for society, your's or ours. In addition to possibly putting his own life at risk he also puts at risk the lives of those who join in his little walks. It's a different world out there from the one you and I grew up in, unfortunately.

You're probably quite right, but I was trying more to illustrate that the perception of the need for such security is considerably different here to in the USA. I presume that Cameron has had good advice on the risks of what he's doing, and I don't somehow think he'd be foolish enough to ignore anything which indicated anything enhanced.
