We're Sorry!

The Conservative party has unreservedly apologised to the people of Slough and former borough councillor Lydia Simmons, who was cheated out of her seat after 23 years of public service.

The Tories have held their hands up and said sorry after their disgraced member Eshaq Khan was found guilty of vote-rigging during the May 2007 local election.

In an open letter this week, the Slough Conservatives, led by local association chairman Robert Oulds and Cllr Dexter Smith, leader of the Conservative on Slough Borough Council said: “We offer our sincere and unreserved apologies to Lydia Simmons and the people of Slough for the election fraud that took place. We would like to assure the voters that the Election Commissioner found no evidence of fraud other than in Central ward. Our campaign teams this year are fresh and untainted by this sorry episode.”
Mr Khan and his agents were found guilty of casting votes from bogus people. He was ousted as a Slough councillor three weeks ago after a special election court found him guilty of illegal and corrupt practices in the elections after his ‘victory’ over Mrs Simmons by 120 votes.

Just what is it with Asians and corruption within politics............

'We're sorry'
