These troofers do my head in. I won't got to the link because I don't want to end up on some CIA watchlist. Some people would rather believe its all a giant conspiracy perpetrated by the US or some global consortium, because in a sense that is more comforting than accepting there are acts of unforeseen carnage in the world.

It doesn't help their cause that when you see these people on TV they always look a bit weird and have a loose grip on reality. The even more annoying thing is we still don't understand the events of 9/11 and now even those campaigning for the truth have their cause tarnished by conspiracy theorists hijacking the word 'truth' to further their own tin-foil hat induced craziness.

But most of all, its annoying because stuff like this makes me agree with Tantal. Something both he and myself try to avoid at all costs

I do like to hear/see these Moon Landings were faked posts, sometimes it's nice to have a chuckle.

We're now 40 years on from the event, in which some 400,000 people took an active part.

If there was any cover up/secret or whatever, it's pretty certain that it would have been exposed/leaked loooooooooooong before now.

What's far more interesting than the conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11 are the faces in the smoke that many observers have pointed out.

What I saw in those links, with todays technology could easily be set up, you only have to watch some the the latest films to know that. Films can be completely computer animated with glimpses of the real footage to create the right impression.

I don't know the exact point I'm making either. We certainly see faces in the clouds all the time, and we call upon scientists who attribute them to the random motion of particles in the atmosphere. In the case of the moon, it is highly unlikely that life would exist on Earth without it, and by the same token it is also true that the natural environment, or the Universe, in which we perceive these faces, pre-exists human life.

Not necessarily. You are assuming all 400, 000 were in on it. Look, to be clear I don't think the Moon Landings were faked. But I have seen evidence in magazines (and its all there on the internet) that suggests the photographs, especially on Apollo 11, have been doctored or staged. There is also the question of why so few subsequent missions, is the consensus we've learnt all there is from the moon?

The old adage, "a secret remains a secret until you tell somone" leads me to believe that had their been any such conspiracy, we'd have seen far more evidence of it by now, including testimony from some of those involved.

As to why they stopped? I think it became politically unsound to continue to expend the billions of dollars on those missions, when the money was much needed at home in the USA. I would not be surprised to see the "draw down" on shuttle type missions, once the construction of the ISS is completed. There is no doubt that crew exchange and re-supply can be done far cheaper using Russian vehicles.

If you look through some of the footage there are many more faces visible than have been pointed out by observers, and some of them even clearer and more dilineated than those that have.

On this video of the south tower collapse, for example, at 1:27 - 1:28, there are two faces which appear in quick succession, just before the camera passes behind a lampost, the latter face is clearer and more fully formed than the former, but both are only visible for a split second. The video creator has chosen to focus on neither, but on a third image which is far more ambiguous.

Regardless of the conspiracy theories that surround 9/11, or even the motivations of the hijackers or the foreign policy of the U.S. government, these disturbing faces probably tell us more about the reason for the attacks than any political, economic or theological analysis can ever hope to comprehend.

Let me tell you that some Muslims had everything to do with 911. Also let me tell you that the picture DavidRose linked to purported to be a child victim of an Israeli attack on the Palestianians. The difference being one of intent. Israel does not intentionally target inoccent civilians, suicide bombers do.

Bottom line, we have pics of two innocent dead children.

Edit: I don't really want to get into a political debate over 9/11, it's just boring and it's been done to death. I'm interested in the faces as an angle into the causes of conflict and suffering generally, all over the world and in different eras. It's a cosmological approach rather than socio-political. At least, I like to think so (and this is the conspiracy section after all).

As I think that 9/11 was part of a spiritual battle currently being waged in the world, I am not surprised that faces of what many consider evil, appeared in the smoke.
I suppose it could be random smoke patterns, but I am not sure.
