World Hegemony

I understand that this has been a question posed in the past but I will pose it again and give you a different spin on the topic.

Is it within the grasp of the human intellect to submit sovereignty to a higher authority and come together as an international nation?

I believe that this is possible. People are becoming tired of the constant fighting in this world. Humans have been fighting forever and people are starting to realize that we don't always have to fight. People have advanced to a point in time where talking is first and fighting comes later. Military action is still a viable option at this point in time when there are rival nations fighting for authority over a region or resource. But what if the entire world were one large nation? What if all resources were distributed throughout and were not hogged by the strongest.

All it would take to start a chain reaction would be for a portion of the world to unite and become one. Not like the European Union though. They have taken the steps to becoming one yet there are problems with having many seperate sovereign states trying to share with their neighbors. No, the EU needs to take that extra step and erase the boundry lines from the face of the map. If a group of countries such as the countries in the EU would take this leap then I am confident other countries would join in also. Latin America, for instance, is already joined by language and customs, and also poverty. If a worldwide government promised distribution of resources, would these countries surely not join in? for the good of the masses?

In order for this world to stay intact enough for our descendants to not need to live in nuclear winter because one county got upset with another we have to erase the lines in the sand. We have to take the different colors on the map and make them one. A large, unified, state could spend its budget on space programs or alternate energy sources. A large, unified state could save whats left of this planet, and the human race.
