The president (lower case p is intentional) of Mexico comes to the United States, and lectures Congress on the need for a comprehensive immigration law. The democrats give him a standing ovation. Are they crazy? The guy just insulted our country and he gets a standing ovation?
It's not just that. The man is a ****ing hypocrite when it comes to immigration law. Mexican law treats illegal immigrants far worse that the Arizona law, which is virtually identical to U.S. Federal immigration law, treats illegals, yet Calderon stands there and condemns us? If the Feds would enforce federal law, Arizona would not have been forced to take the action they have.
Calderon, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and most of the other critics haven't even read the Arizona law that they condemn. Hint, Mr. Attorney General, if you can't find a copy of the Arizona law to read, get a copy of the federal law and read it, they're virtually identical.
Lest someone try to misconstrue my sentiments, I have absolutely nothing against legal immigrants to my country, to do so would be hypocritical of me as my birth father was a legal immigrant from Cuba. I also have no objections to them following their native customs, so long as they don't violate our laws and productively contribute to society. Hell I even sympathize with most of the illegals and do realize that the vast majority are law abiding (setting aside the illegal immigration issue for the moment) and productive. It is also obvious to me that we cannot round up and deport the millions that are already here. Another solution to that situation must be found. That said we must secure our borders against further illegal immigration. If the Feds abdicate their responsibility to enforce the existing law, to make necessary and needed changes to the existing law, then the states must must step in and fill the void.
I wonder why the things that should be so simple, so natural... like loving someone and letting them see into your heart... should require so much courage?
