Talking Home office inadvertantly directed people to adult porn

Home Office advert for a child protection website inadvertently directed people to adult porn, the industry watchdog has said.

The radio commercial was publicising the thinkuknow.co.uk site which advises children how to stay safe online.

But a listener who mistakenly typed in the address as thinkyouknow.co.uk found a series of links which led her to porn sites.

Without meaning to, the Home Office advert indirectly publicised adult material and sexual services, the Advertising Standards Authority(ASA) said.

The Home Office has apologised for any "unwitting problems" after the industry watchdog found the radio commercial in breach of the advertising code.
