| How to sort the UK I wrote this yesterday in a moment of anger, it's a bit long let me know what you think. How to sort out the country, a paper by a nobody I work in the public sector and like many am dismayed by the pay disputes ongoing in almost every sector, why I ask myself is the government fighting this so hard. I think the answer is simple they can’t afford it but again the question continues, why? The taxes in this country are extortionate with tax on our wages, council tax, road tax, petrol tax, vat and that’s just off the top of my head, where is all the money going and how does this look for the future. There are major problems with this country and I’m going to pick a few and present some simple solutions. Benefits system being abused by not only British citizens but 10’s of thousands of immigrants, NHS suffering the same abuse. Teenage pregnancy going through the roof as young mothers see more children as means of getting a bigger house and a larger income. Crime going through the roof, the government waste a fortune manipulating figures to show us that crime is reducing, unfortunately with sentences reducing due to full prisons this is simply not the case. There are a few problems off of the top of my head and I’m sure the cost of these problems is in the billions, money that has to come out of normal working peoples pockets. So taxes go up whilst pay rises go down. How long before the levels of tax become unmanageable, well to be honest with most public sectors considering strike action, its looks as if we’re getting close. The current situation is unacceptable and I believe will only get worse year after year, drastic action is needed, now. So lets look at these problems and see what we can do. The NHS is near breaking point, and why is this? Everyday there are more and more people coming into the country, many from the EU. All of them are entitled to heath care on the NHS so they come in and take advantage of a NHS that they haven’t paid for putting those that have onto endless waiting lists. Add to this those that come into A&E from alcohol related problems, injuries from assaults, drug related problems it’s no wonder the system is about to collapse. So why don’t we simply get rid of the NHS, wow that’s a big deal isn’t it. Why? Those people that are working will often pay for private heath care anyway, I know I have, I don’t want to be put on a long waiting list when I get ill I want help straight away. So I like many others am paying for private heath care that I can’t afford as well as taxes to fund the NHS. So we get rid of the NHS and we all have to pay insurance to cover medical bills. I would have to support my family and myself. I can live with that. Those people unable to work or out of work would qualify for free heath care as part of their benefits. Now I hear you say that doesn’t solve the problem at all as all those that I mentioned above are still going to be claiming benefits and therefore claiming free heath care. So that takes us to the next problem, the benefit system. In my line of work I come into contact with many people claiming benefits. Many of them have lots of children, most of them are fully capable of working, many of them have very expensive tv’s a generous supply of cigarettes and alcohol and very little desire for a job. I often ask them why they don’t get a job the answer is usually “Why should I” or “Because I’d have less money”. So these people have a better income on benefits (often because of the child tax credits they get for their house full of children) than they would by getting a job, or the income they receive from crime or cash in hand jobs again makes it unprofitable to get a job. So to me the answer is simply, make claiming benefits uncomfortable for those that simply don’t want a job. How do we do that, firstly force those that claim benefit to work. Where can we send them that firstly isn’t taking another’s job and secondly there is need for them. I’m sure there are many solutions, the first that came to my mind was when I read the paper the other day, farmers is this country are struggling, some working well over 60 hours a week just to get by. Why not send the farmer 10 people on benefits to plant seeds or pick vegetables or perform some of the many labour jobs that farmers do. Or I’m often reading how the government plans to build prison ships to solve the prison population problems. Again put the people on benefits to work building these ships, not only would they be helping to solve another of the country’s problems, saving money for us tax payers but they could also earn education and experience. That’s two idea’s I’m sure people could come up with many more. For doing this work the people claiming benefits are allowed to continue claiming benefits. If those people require time off for an interview so be it, but if they refuse to do the work they no longer get to claim benefits. I can already hear people saying ‘you can’t do that’ well why not, why shouldn’t people be expected to earn the money they are given by us. I have a feeling a lot more people would be trying to get jobs, after all if you don’t like it, get a job is my feeling. On the subject of benefits again I see many ‘families’ making a career of having children. The more children you have the better your tax credits, the bigger council house you’re entitled too etc, etc. Why? I pay a mortgage and work, my wife and myself have one child and we’re stopping at one, the primary reason being is that is all we can afford. If I have more children I have to make my money stretch further and find space in my current house so the amount of money you receive when you have more children shouldn’t be such an incentive to keep having them. Or why not lets go a stage further, if you have more children whilst you are claiming benefits you will not receive any more money. Oh why not, one stage further if you are claiming benefits you cannot have any more children. You have to wear a contraceptive implant. ‘You can’t do that’ well why not, all logic suggest that a family claiming benefits shouldn’t have more children, so why don’t we stop them. One point I’d like to make at this point is that more and more benefit families are having lots of children as stated above they get bigger houses and more money. And working families are having less children as we are taxed more and more and have less money because we can’t afford more children. Now although it’s a little stereo typical I will go out on a limb and say that a lot of the children from these benefit families will go onto to have benefit families themselves (not always the case but it often is) where as the children from working/educated families will go on to go to college/get a job. Now then if you do the maths, benefit families having 3, 4,5 even 6 children that go on and do the same, whereas working family have 1 or 2 children who go onto do the same. We have an exponential growth of government dependant families and those that are supporting them are growing at half or a third of the rate. What does this mean for the country generation after generation, well I’ll let you have a think. Sorry got a bit distracted there, where were we. Ah yes, crime. Well from our above solutions, those criminals claiming benefits are being forced to work so they have less time to commit crime. There are more prison ships, again thanks to our benefit claiming friends, we can therefore hand out harsher penalties for repeat offenders. So there we go we’ve already hit those crime figures pretty well haven’t we. What’s next, well as said above harsher penalties are the way forward but what about solicitors. Offenders turn up time and time again in custody and demand solicitors to come out to them. I dread to think how much this costs you and me but I bet it’s no small amount. So how about after a certain amount of convictions criminals are no longer entitled to free solicitors in custody. If they are charged, on the day they attend court a solicitor will read their case files and defend them. Oh I can hear it again ‘you can’t do that’ well why not, repeat criminals are taking advantage of a lax system and costing the tax payer millions so why not say ‘stop’ All of these changes above I’m sure would save the country a fortune and therefore I would think taxes could be less and pay rises could be given to those hard working people in the public sector that deserve to be looked after. However there are enough people out there (probably driving Mercedes) that have no comprehension of real life and would appose such ideas. This is enough to make any government scared to try such radical solutions. We need a government to step in and have the courage to say ‘NO’ we will no tolerate these situations any longer and to change these things now, not forming a ten year committee but to do it now, this year, immediately. Will it happen, I like many other believe that it won’t which is why so may are thinking about leaving this country for greener pastures in Canada and Australia trying to find a country where they are expected to look after themselves and not everybody else. I hope I can leave before the country implodes or I’m taxed so much that I can no longer afford a plane ticket. I hope my thoughts found someone who can carry them on. |
