Drive your car 5 miles less a week

Has anyone else seen these ridiculous adverts, based on the CO2 / global warming theory?
Are our politicians going to fly 5 miles less when they are on their jaunts to Copenhagen? Haven't they heard of conference telephone / video calls?

I went for a lovely ride in the countryside with my wife yesterday. Took about an hour did about 35 miles - just for the pleasure of it.
So 7 people can drive 5 miles less to cancel mine out.

What a total waste of money this advert is. They have even paid Google for a sponsored link.

Yep. If they are talking about cuts in public spending this is the type of thing that has to stop immediately. When you think about it, the idea is so bizarre, does anyone actually believe TV advertising does ANYTHING other than sell products?! Thats what its for, not stupid government pissing-against-the-wind initiatives like this

So, if I followed this idea, I'd park my car a mile from home tomorrow evening and walk the remainder of the way in the driving rain? Yeah right, that's gonna happen. Freaking pols. I walk when I can, cause it's good for me not because some idiot has a spitball idea.
I wonder why the things that should be so simple, so natural... like loving someone and letting them see into your heart... should require so much courage?

Brilliant idea there Barry, especially if their destination is right on a coast......

Couldn't agree more. People would have far more respect if the government was honest about things and instead of banging on endlessly about CO2 and global warming/cooling, which has little effect other than making the public increasingly cynical, they simply pointed out it would be in everyone's interest to help save fuel if they could and clean up the environment if they could.

I only drove about 15 miles yesterday, but I'm still trying to work out how I'd have got to my destination and back again if I'd driven 5 miles less......

Ever heard of walking, a scenic walk is far better than a drive.

I walk for at least 1/2 an hour every day, I often go for walks of 7 miles or more.
I don't suppose you are old enough to have a driving licence. Many thanks for your concern.

Yes, they can be great, I do a fair bit myself; however the problems arise when the places you want to walk to or round are several miles from where you live...........

Do you have a beard, wear sandals and go round hugging trees?

Are you implying there's something wrong with tree hugging?

No there is nothing wrong with tree hugging.

At a time when we're having to take such difficult decisions about how to cut back without damaging the things that matter the most, we should strain every sinew to cut error, waste and fraud.

You will feel the full force of the law and if you are old enough to commit these crimes you are old enough to face the punishments. And to these people I would say this: you are not only wrecking the lives of others, you are potentially wrecking your own life too.
