| Tap water as healthy and far cheaper than bottled water People who insist on buying bottled water on health grounds are wasting their money, a watchdog said yesterday. A litre of bottled water costs about £1 compared to 0.1p for tap The Consumer Council for Water said tap water was just as healthy as the bottled variety, did far less damage to the environment and was at least 500 times cheaper. The comments came as a report from the Drinking Water Inspectorate described England's tap water as safer than ever before.
