| First full face transplant to take place in UK British surgeons have been given permission to carry out the world's first full face transplant, opening the door to thousands more such operations. Consultant surgeon Peter Butler was granted permission for the pioneering surgery by the ethics committee at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, north London, this morning.
