    Hello from Wales

Having lurked about a little to get a feel for the place, I guess I should introduce myself and say hello. I am a Welshman and Plaid Supporter (so, yes - what you might term a 'nationalist', but not in the right wing, xenophobic context!), with generally left of centre-ish political views.

    Hello!

    Hi

    Hello and Welcome.

I see you have already scoped out the rules and guide to good posting, so I look forward to your contributions. The viewpoint of Welsh 'nationalists' is badly under-represented here so I am especially pleased to welcome you.

Any questions or comments please get in touch with any of the moderating team which is: Myself, Opinionated (no longer 74 I notice??), Midas and DougieG

    Best Wishes
    MN

Thanks. I will add the perspective of a Welsh 'Nationalist' as best I can, and hopefully avoid breaking any rules. I'm used to posting on various other forums (fora, possibly? My latin is more than a little rusty!) and haven't been banned from any yet, so fingers crossed on that!

I think fora is correct in Latin (my latin is a little rusty and all) butI don't think the latin plural has survived into English (unlike Cactus and Octopus - only examples that come to mind). Do I know you from UK Debate, per chance?

I don't recall ever visiting that one, but I am on a few other politics type forums (fora, forii!), including politicalforum.com and democracyforum.co.uk, as well as a number of dog-related and music-related ones. I tend to use the same username for most of them, so I'm quite easy to spot.

The only plural from a latin word that always sounds wrong to me is 'stadiums', for some reason - 'stadia' sounds so much better! It's just me being overly pedantic though!

Welcome to the forum, cenydd! I hope you have a good time here. If in doubt about anything, I'll echo MN in saying feel free to send any of us a PM and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

I'll add my own welcome to the forum too cenydd.

If you haven't read the rules yet, please do; you can find them here. Knowing what’s appropriate and what isn’t can save everyone a great deal of hassle! You might also find the Guide to Good Posting useful. Also please respect other people’s views; they mightn’t be the same as yours but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re wrong, just different.

    Enjoy your dicussions here.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised 'for the good of its victims' may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us 'for our own good' will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis
