    New member says hello.

    Hithere,
I live in a quiet tourist area of county durham and for the last couple of weeks the bnp have been setting up a table on a public footpath giving out leaflets and trying to attract new members.I am fully aware that thay are a recognised political party but i do not want them in my town.I have contacted the local council who state they do not have permission to be there and are breaking section 37 of the highways act ( obsrtuction of a highway). As the bnp turn up on satudays only the council is closed,so i contacted the local police who would not do a thing even though they are breaking the law being there.
I have contacted the local counciller and the local church to put pressure on the police and council to stop them having a stall on the footpath.
I find the presence of the bnp in my local town disgusting and want them out.
One of the bnp who turn up was a local schoolteacher who was finished when it came to light he was an active member of the bnp,on youtube he says he has had good response from his former pupils.
This is the first time i have been so outraged about... anything and i am determined to protest them being here.
After recently finding the uaf website i am planning to turn up to there next meeting and i would like any uaf members on here to explain what goes on in the uaf. cheers from an irate member

Hello mickyb and welcome to the forum,
before anything else may I suggest, if you haven't already done so, you acquaint yourself with the rules here, you may also find this Guide to Good Posting helpful. If you ever need any help please feel free to contact myself or one of the other mods via private message.
If you're feeling brave you could tell us a little more about yourself here and perhaps join the rogues gallery.

You will find that there are many members here who share your concern over the recent rise in support for the more extreme parties, but also members who support the BNP et al. We try to keep this a relaxed and friendly place to debate, so please try and bear in mind that though your views may be different from another member it doesn't necessarily mean that theirs are wrong.
Look forward to debating with you soon.

Welcome to the forum, Mickey! I'm moving up to Durham myself in October to go to the university, so its good to hear from someone in the area. I agree with your points about the BNP handing out leaflets illegally like this, its the sort of thing that they will be very quick to dismiss as freedom of speech when in fact they are simply causing a nuisance. I'm looking forward to hearing from you more in the future!

    Best wishes,

    DougieG
