    Hello

Hello. My name is John West and I am currently the National Secretary of the UK First Party.

I have been interested in politics since I was a child.

For four years I was a member of UKIP. I stood for them in one GE and two local elections. I also organised two conferences on immigration and law and order for them.

I was thrown out of UKIP after raising concerns about corruption in the party.

In June I stood for UK First in the Eastern Region. Our lead candidate was Robin Page. We got 38,000 votes which is quite good for a new party. We also stood in the SE and the East Midlands.

The UK First Party is committed to leaving the EU and protecting our borders. We are anti-sleaze. Robin Page is our current leader. Robin is a noted writer, journalist and TV presenter. Petrina Holdsworth is our current Chairman. Petrina is a former QC and used to be the chairman of UKIP.

Here is a link to our website.http://www.ukfp.org/

I believe we should leave the EU and halt uncontrolled immigration. My British political heroes are Oliver Cromwell, Athelstan and Alfred the Great.

I have had books and articles published on the Romans, Oliver Cromwell, politics, Victorian murders and folklore. I also used to write articles for two British MEPs. One of my guides was turned into a BBC radio documentary which I co-presented.

I have also given talks on the Romans and the supernatural. My last talk was on Suffolk ghosts.

I am 42 years of age and currently work for Suffolk County Council.

That all sounds extremely interesting John, and I suspect that you'll find some interesting debates to be had on several aspects of both politics in its widest sense, and in relation to the current political parties and their own policies. You may well have gathered that although our active membership here is relatively small, there are some very interesting and well reasoned arguments put forwards for several alternative policies which people believe should be adopted, and why that should be so.

I've just had a quick browse through the UK First Party website and at first glance I do have to say that your policies do ring many bells with me. However one question; as a current non-voter for many reasons, how would you convince me that I should join a small and hitherto unknown political party, one of several dozen already in the UK, which, whilst full of fine words (aren't they all!) will stand any chance whatsoever in gaining enough public support to make even the slightest dent in the power of the major parties?

Can a vote for a small party not be considered as a wasted vote, allowing yet more years of one of the major parties to continue in power with an even smaller percentage of the electorate voting for them? You say you support smaller and more accountable government - excellent - but I can't see where you stand with relation to proportional representation, in my view one of the best ways that smaller parties could gain a realistic foothold on a national level.

I for one will be very interested in discussing some of your proposals and in hoping that some of what's discussed here might eventually find its way into the UKFP's own policies.

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us 'for our own good' will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Thanks for your comments. All new parties have to start at the bottom but one of our biggest assets is Robin Page who as a media figure can get us quite a bit of publicity. 38,000 votes in June was an excellent start and we hope to build on that next year.

As a new party we are developing our policies all the time. I am in favour of Google Page Ranking as it gives the people a better chance of having their views represented in Westminster. Google Page Ranking would also break the Lib-Lab-Con's stranglehold on British politics. I also favour a reduction in the number of MPs as I feel we have far too many at the moment!

I hope to get some of our members members posting on here. I will see what I can do.

Excellent! I'm sure we'll all look forward to that.

If you consider Alfred the great to be Alf Garnet you have got my vote.
