    New member says hello

    Hi all,

I'm 48 single a bloke and live on the south coast.

I've so far had 16 of my comments published on the BBC have your say page.
However I still have many thoughts about how to make the world a better place for all and feel a deep desire to discuss my thoughts with others.

I hate the sort of debates that move to point less insults been thrown but world except that some people might never agree with me.

I hope I have joined the right forum

I will post this and as I understand this is a coffee room area I will nip downstairs and put the kettle on while I wait for a reply

    John

Hi Johnthebowman, and welcome to the Politics Forum!

Before anything else can I make a couple of quick points about posting in the forum. If you haven't read the rules yet, please do; you can find them here. Knowing what’s appropriate and what isn’t can save everyone a great deal of hassle! You might also find the Guide to Good Posting useful. Also please respect other people’s views; they mightn’t be the same as yours but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re wrong, just different.

If you need help with anything at all, feel free to contact me, or one of the other moderators, via a personal message; details can be found here.

Perhaps you’d care to introduce yourself, which you can do here, or tell us a little bit more about yourself here.

    Enjoy the debates

By the way Pauli, if you like Ethiopian coffee and haven't tried it yet, get some Yirgacheffe; gorgeous.

That sounds far too much like the rather more personal "so do you dress to the left or the right?" OK, just me then.

    Thanks for all the replies

I did try to post on one thread that interested me but found the thread locked. Having just read the rules I would guess its because one member included a link to his party website I wonder if that was the case?

Cagen, As for right or left, I would say to the left. But I can see advantages and disadvantages of both capitalism and socialism.

Threads are usually closed if no-one has posted to them for two months or more, although occasionally the mods will close one earlier if it's either heading nowhere or arguments are developing.

If there is a topic you'd like to discuss, regardless of whether it's been discussed in the past and is on a closed thread, please feel totally free to start up a new discussion. The membership here changes over time, as do the circumstances surrounding most topics of interest, so there's always room for further debate.
