    Greetings

    Hello fellow forum members,
I'm quite happy to have come upon this website and look forward to many fruitful and fulfilling discussions. I've resorted to these electronic means of political discussion due to the fact that most within my circle of friends and social acquaintances seem to have very little interest in such topics - or if they do share an interest, their level of reasoning is below par to an extent that precludes a valuable exchange of ideas. I suspect that's why the majority of us are here.
As a brief introduction to my own political philosophy, I tend to dispense with the "left-right" spectrum as I don't think it works very well in my case. I believe in economic socialism and a capitalist society - by that I mean that egalitarianism is ok with me as long as it does not encroach upon the spheres of law & order, immigration policy, defence, etc. I believe that a completely socialist society is harmful, as is a completely capitalist one. Saying that, I don't think I could be described an a "third positionist" as that has fascist connotations which I don't think apply to my own philosophy. I hope I've made myself clear, and I look forward to browsing the forum topics and making my presence known there.

Hi Drmark, and welcome to the Politics Forum!

To start with you might like to read the extended "Welcome" message in the Rules and Guidelines section of the forum, which also includes a full version of the Forum Rules.

Knowing what’s appropriate to say and post and what isn’t can save everyone a great deal of hassle, and as such you might also find the Guide to Good Posting useful. If you’re unfamiliar with the type of forum software we use here, a brief guide to using it can be found here. Please respect other people’s views here; they mightn’t be the same as yours, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re wrong, just that they're different.

If you need help with anything at all to do with the forum, feel free to contact me, or one of the other moderators, via a personal message; our details can be found here, listed as "Minister" and “Junior Minister”.

    Enjoy the debates

The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us 'for our own good' will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Hello Drmark,

I'm wondering if you are in fact a Dr.?
You're not alone in joining the forum to find like minded people, in terms of an interest in politics rather than individual views and opinions. Hopefully you will find a broad spectrum of subjects to peak your interest. the best thing to do is probably just jump right in, we're a pretty friendly bunch on the whole - enjoy the debates.

In my case absolutely. None although I don't really have any are interested whatsoever which often eats at me to spill.

Interesting point of view, a combined society of capitalism and socialism. I'm completely Conservative, although I'm an
Anti-Socialist it's an interesting experiment of having a society balanced between Capitalism and Socialism.

^_^ ~WELCOME~ Hope to see you around.

not an MD, though soon a PhD. Forgive the eagerness with which i've embraced this new title. In my defence I can only say i'm from humble beginnings, have worked hard, and will enjoy this reward to the full.
