Amnesty International said Hamas forces and militias were involved in a "campaign of abductions, deliberate and unlawful killings, torture and death threats against those they accuse of 'collaborating' with Israel, as well as opponents and critics". It said at least two dozen men had been shot by Hamas since the end of December and "scores of others" shot in the legs, kneecapped or beaten.Amnesty gave detailed accounts of some of the cases and said there was "incontrovertible evidence" that Hamas security forces and militia were "responsible for grave human rights abuses". Hamas officials have admitted hunting for suspected collaborators, but they have denied this campaign of attacks.
Hamas apparently fears it lost some of its control in Gaza during Israel's devastating three-week war and launched a new and violent crackdown to enforce its rule, targeting not only those suspected of giving information to the Israeli military but also escaped prisoners and all perceived internal opponents."

If the people in Gaza want any sort of future they need to reject Hamas via the ballot box (assuming they get the chance) or by any other means.

I feel very sorry for the Palestinian people, they voted for Hamas out of desperation. Only to now find they're as bad as the Israeli leadership.....where do they go from here? To hell in a handcart?

The Fatah party are still there though Albion - do you think they have the spine to try and take on Hamas?
If they did, would Israel help them overthrow Hamas? I know Hamas were shooting and torturing Fatah supporters in Gaza during the recent conflict with Israel in case they decided to help the IDF.
But would Fatah do that? Indeed would Israel?

Although Hamas have been severely weakened i don't believe Fatah have the manpower or enough support from the people in Gaza to mount an effective challenge.
Israel would much prefer them to regain control so would support and probably assist by targeting senior Hamas figures but this could turn the population against Fatah if they were seen to be collaborating with Israel. In truth i doubt Hamas will be removed any time soon which condemns the people of Gaza to many more months of suffering and hardship
