Gaza strip haven for Foreign Fighters

Al Jazeera English - Middle East - Several dead in Gaza mosque clash

Several dead in Gaza mosque clash

Clashes between Hamas security forces in the Gaza Strip and supporters of an armed group whose leader had declared the Palestinian territory "an Islamic emirate", have left at least 20 people dead.

The fighting errupted in the town of Rafah on Friday after Sheikh Abdel-Latif Moussa, the religious leader of the group and imam of the Ibn Taymiya mosque, called for Gaza to be ruled by sharia (Islamic law).

This really doesn't surprise me, although it's good the terrorists are fighting each other now. Although it's pretty scary that Gaza might become Sharia.

This can't be happening! I was told that Islam is the 'Religion of Peace'.

Just like Judaism and Christianity are supposed to be, eh Tantal
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised 'for the good of its victims' may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us 'for our own good' will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." -- C.S. Lewis

The Crusades were a long time ago. Any wars that Christian nations have engaged in since have been for political or ideological reasons, not religious. Jesus himself would never promote spreading Christianity through the use of the sword. Wish we could say the same for Mohammed the Pedophile.

There's this little place called Northern Ireland, you might have heard of it. Protestants and Catholics partake in sectarian violence there to this day..
not forgetting Bosnia, which was of course also for political reasons, much as a lot of the Islamic hostility to the west is also complicated by these matters.

Indeed, jesus didn't, however according to the old testament Yahweh on a number of occasions encouraged the Israelites to perpetrate acts of genocide against gentiles.
So unproductive has conservatism been in producing a general conception of how a social order is maintained that its modern votaries, in trying to construct a theoretical foundation, invariably find themselves appealing almost exclusively to authors who regarded themselves as liberal. - F.A. Hayek

As an American, that's something I've never been able to wrap my head around. At one time there was some distrust of Catholics by Americans, but that was well before my time.

Still, more politics than religion in that one.

Wish I could argue with you on this one, but I don't know the the Old Testament quite as well as I should. I know that there were particular instances where that was the case; however, those were very specific and not a standing order to engage in such behavior in perpetuity.
