Leaving your blatant racism to one side for a second....

Hollywood is planning to remake the film version of "Clue" in the style of a mystery thriller.

Is it me, or has nothing truly original come out of the mainstream film industry for 10 years?

No, it's not just you, there's been very little worth going to see, or worth buying as a DVD, for years. I know it's a matter of personal taste, but IMO much of what comes out of Hollywood these days is complete rubbish and must say a great deal about its audience's intelligence

Even many of the remakes or adaptations of older films are not a patch on the originals (again subjective I suppose), but the one thing which infuriates me about many such remakes is the American tendency to shift the setting and story so it becomes centered round the USA! Re-releases of films like 'Day of the Jackal' (called just 'The Jackal' and disowned by Frederick Forsyth he thought it so bad and so far from his original) and 'War of the Worlds' are two classic examples of this.

Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd did it for me. I thought that films was absolutely brilliant. That said, I can't think of any totally original Hollywood films that I actually thought were excellent that have come out for some time. The best ones were: Sweeney Todd, Lord of the Rings and King Kong, in my opinion. All of them remakes/book or stage adaptations.

There's not much to discuss about your joke. I found it quite funny, but it would be pointless to discuss since I don't share the sentiment behind it!
