NP this is old news man. Like last week or somethin. Come on mate, you can do better than this, I'm sure there's some fresh bull**** out there for you to inform us of.

I heard on radio5 last week the guy say that his twitter account was hacked. Yeah, cuz thats what hackers do. Post unamusing lighthearted but potentially inflammatory comments on twitter. Yeah right. First of course he said it was hacked and edited, then he realised that you can't actually do that on twitter, so reverted to hacked and a new message posted. Absolute rubbish of course. As is twitter in general, full of people saying things to many that only 5 years ago they'd have kept to themselves

Maybe going off topic slightly, but a very good reason for never using your own name, email address or anything personally identifiable when posting any sort of remarks which might come back to bite you at a later date. An increasing number of both public and private organisations and businesses will routinely search through forums and social networks for comments attributed to either senior employees or potential new employees, and an increasing number of people are either losing their jobs or being denied new ones because of injudicious remarks they've made on the internet.

With regards employees, that may happen occasionally, but in general I think most people don't have the time or the inclination unless there is a real security risk involved with the post (Job)..but hey..I could be in denial and simply fooling myself too..but I don't think so

I have no doubt that you are right, and such practices will only become more common. An acquaintance of mine is a senior member of staff in one of the Oxford colleges and they as a matter of routine selection procedure, search through social networking sites. It is apparently now a common practice in many universities.

Yes, I have heard of people being dismissed when their employer saw comments they posted on facebook.
