Business conference brings Israel and Dubai closer

Dubai's efforts to position it self as a global business hub is bringing business and economical opportunities both to Dubai and Israel.

This was unthinkable only a few years ago, the Chairman of El Al Israel Airlines- Dr Israel Borovich is been invited to Dubai in order to speak during the Travel Distribution Middle East 2008 EyeforTravel : Travel Distribution Middle East 2008 Summit.

While many people might see this as a normal event, one must not forget that this is taking place in Dubai. A country where not only Israelis are banned from visiting, but any body with an Israeli visa in his will be banned from entering the country.

With officially no relations between Dubai and Israel many see this move as a step forward toward potential economical collaboration between Tel-Aviv and Dubai.

This is not the first step that Dubai takes in order to slowly try to warm up relationships with Israel, as the ruler of Dubai, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum see the value that economical collaboration can brings to his effort of trying to position Dubai as a global business hub.

On the 18th of October and in an interview with the Tendances Trends Business Magazine, the CEO of “Dubai Diamond exchange” Youri Steverlynck admitted that companies from Tel-Aviv have bought offices in the the Almas tower where they will be active in diamond cutting and exchange.

Recruited by Dubai Diamond exchange in order to help achieve Sheikh Mohammed dreams of transforming Dubai into the world diamond hub, Peter Meeus (CEO of international Diamond Laboratories) was responsible for organizing a Dubai Road show in Israel in order to show the facilities the new Center can offer to Israeli companies.

Even Israeli companies can nowadays participate in exhibitions taking place in Dubai, Tourico Holidays a subsidiary of Travel Holdings, Inc. headquartered in Tel Aviv, Israel. Have been an exhibitor in the Arabian Travel Market that took place in Dubai between the 6th and 9th of May. Of course the organizer of the event have registered the company under a Florida address on the event website, since even if Dubai is interested in doing business with Tel-Aviv it is not yet ready to admit it publicly.
