"A foster mother with ten years' experience has been struck off after a Muslim girl she was looking after converted to Christianity, it has been reported.

A local council removed the woman from their register for failing to "respect and preserve" the teenager's faith, even though the girl made her own decision to change religion when she was 16. The carer, a churchgoer in her 50s who has fostered more than 80 children, is now planning legal action against the council, amid complaints from religious groups that Christians are increasingly becoming victims of discrimination...
... The girl, who is now 17 and back with her family who are thought to be unaware of her conversion, is supporting the woman's legal action, which is being funded by the Christian Institute.
Mike Judge of the institute said: "I cannot imagine that an atheist foster carer would be struck off if a Christian child in her care stopped believing in God.
"This is the sort of double standard that Christians are facing in Britain."

Would a Muslim carer be struck off if children in there care converted to Islam ? The Council expect carers to respect (fair enough) the child's faith but preserving it is another matter . Since when do children get to choose the faith their parents indoctrinate them with .....

Further proof that in Britain right now we are experiencing a state of religious crazyness. Everyone seems to just be going crazy trying to 'not offend' when in actual fact they are doing just that.

Have to agree that this is quite simply stupid and exactly the sort of incident that gives the anti pc movement oxygen, thus negating any good that came from examining our use of language and working at equality.
If common sense is to return we will have to make it much harder to bring litigation against someone, possibly even string up all no win no fee solicitors!

The council in the north of England declined to comment on "sensitive issues surrounding a child in care".

Why am I not supprised!

If the carer takes them down the legal route, they will settle out of court, so they don't have to disclose any internal policies.

If this woman was a Muslim the council would not dare fire her, even if she did convert children intentionally.

Sadly it is only going to get worse until someone actually stands up to these socialistic idiots and tells them to **** *** and go and ruin some other country.

not that i have an right leaning tendencies, but at least with the likes of the BNP you know what your going to get, and this is one thing they won't tolerate.

Yes, lets blame socialism, lets not see it as misguided attempt to be fair and inclusive. Have things gone too far? Absolutely and it does need to be redressed. Whilst I think that it is perfectly possible to have Islam and Christianity co-exist the balance is definitely infringing on the rights of Christians at the moment.

That's right because fascist regimes have such a wonderful track record when it comes to freedom of speech and thought after all!

Does anyone know why the girl was fostered in the first place? I should think that would have some reflection on how much her parents would even care about her conversion. All that said I don't think I would be too happy if I placed my child in someone's care for them to be converted whilst there, it would certainly raise concerns over brain washing etc.
